Photojournalist Gary L Howe lives in Traverse City, Michigan and dreams of the South Coast of Tasmania. He works as a freelance photographer for both regional and national clients, as well as shoots weddings for couples interested in a unique documentary approach.

He has a graduate certificate from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. He spent almost five years living in Taiwan and Mainland China developing a strong desire to eat beef noodle soup and jiaozi.

In recent years he has made trips to Chiapas, Mexico, Bolivia and Rwanda to document the on-going story of the Fair Trade coffee industry. He has made these trips in association with Higher Grounds Trading Co. and Cooperative Coffees.
